RECREATION DEPARTMENT AQUATICS - The outdoor pool  is CLOSED for the season

The Civic Center Pool is an outdoor Olympic-sized swimming pool with a .75 meter diving board and a water slide. A wading pool is available for children ages 7 and under who are accompanied by an adult. The pool is open Monday, June 12 through Friday, August 25.

Open swim hours:
1:00-4:30 PM and 6:15-8:15 PM daily through August 18. No evening swim August 19-25.

Daily admission:
Youth $2.50
Adults $4.00

There is no charge to use the wading pool.

Pool opening requirements include a minimum air temperature of 65 degrees during the day and 70 degrees for evening swimming. If there are less than ten swimmers, wading pool and big pool combined, within 60 minutes of opening time during the day and 30 minutes at night, the pool will be closed and any cash customers’ money refunded.
Season Passes allow unlimited use of the pool during open swim and adult swim times. They are not valid for swimming lessons. Passes are not transferable, and may be used only by the purchaser.

The rental fee is $60.00 per hour for city residents, and $100.00 per hour for non-residents. Wading pool rentals are available from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, and cost $25.00 per hour.

Private Swimming Lessons

Private lessons are available for individuals of any age. The cost is $45.00 for Marinette city residents or $75.00 for non-residents.

Junior Lifeguarding

This program is designed for those children ages 11-14 who are looking to do more in the area of aquatics. This is an introduction to lifeguarding program for children who are interested in becoming a certified lifeguard one day. The class helps students to develop a deeper appreciation of the water and build a stronger foundation of aquatic and leadership skills and knowledge for a future career in lifeguarding. Skill presentation will include first aid, CPR and AED, safety and basic rescues and swimming endurance. This course does not certify students to be lifeguards, but it acts as a stepping stone for those who are not yet old enough to take certifying lifeguarding courses.

The class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon-1 PM at the Civic Center Pool from June 13 to July 27. Additional on-deck opportunities will be available to students during the month of August. The cost of participation is $40.00 for Marinette city residents and $60.00 for non-city residents. Fees are payable at the time of registration.

Pool Birthday Parties are available during any open swim session! Fees include the assistance of one of our amazing staff members, pool admission, reserved space on the pool deck, and a personalized 1/4 sheet cake, plates, forks, napkins, cups and juice to enjoy in the snack shack area. Parties must be paid in full at the time reservations are made. Sorry, phone reservations are not accepted.

Punch Cards (7 classes) are used for this class, and are available for purchase at the Civic Center.

Fishermen of all ages—learn the basics of fly fishing from Dale Lange and Doug Erdmann of Marinette County Trout Unlimited. The four-part series of lessons will include fish habitat, fly tying, casting, and more. The class is held on Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 PM for the first three sessions. The first three classes (February 15 and 22 and March 1) are held in the conference room at the Dome Lanes. The final class will he held on a Tuesday, March 6, and will be held at the Civic Center Dome on Alice Lane, where participants will practice casting.   Fly Fishing

The Civic Center Indoor Ice Rink is open through March 18. The indoor, artificially-cooled ice rink is an olympic-sized rink. Skates are available for rent, and skate sharpening is available. Skating Birthday Party Packages

Packages are available during any open skate period, or on Fridays from 5:00-6:30 PM or Saturdays from 4-5:30 PM. Noon Hour Skate Admission to the ice rink from noon to 1:00 PM Monday through Friday is just $1.00 as well, and includes skate rentals. Time to dust off your skates!

Beginner Ice Skating Lessons
Beginner lessons for ages four and up, held on Mondays at 4:00 PM. Lessons are 30 minutes in length, with fifteen minutes of practice to follow, concluding at 4:45 PM. November 13-December 18. Residents $32.00, Non-residents $42.00
Fees include the use of rental skates, if needed. Children may use either figure or hockey skates, but no double-bladed skates.
Family Skating Sessions
We get it—it’s hard to bring a young child to most open skate sessions due to the high attendance and skating levels of older skaters. Join us for two skating sessions just for parents and their younger skaters on Saturday, October 28 or Sat., November 25 from 2-4 PM. These sessions will be open ONLY to children under age 10 who are accompanied by an adult. Regular admission rates apply.

Ice Rink Rentals
The Civic Center Ice Rink is available for rent by school, community or church groups Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM, and also on Fridays from 5:00 to 6:30 PM . The rental fee is $100.00 per hour for city residents, and $120.00 for non-residents. The fee includes skate rent-als. Contact the Recreation Department at 715-732-5222 to make an ice rink rental reservation.

 


Open Hockey is hosted Monday through Friday from 8:00-10:00 AM and is strictly no-check hockey in FULL gear. Additional Open Hockey will be hosted from December 26-28 at times TBD. Regular admission

Join Marinette High School Soccer volunteers, coaches and players for an off-season soccer camp to get your skills amped up for the spring and summer sea-sons! Camp topics will include fun fitness drills and dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, and goalkeeping.
All proceeds from this camp above expenses will benefit the Marinette High School Varsity Soccer Teams. Athletes should wear shin guards and non-cleated athletic shoes for each camp date. Cleats will not be allowed indoors.
Camp is scheduled at the Duer Gym, 402 Williams Street on Saturdays, January 6-27.
Ages 4-8 from 12-1 PM, Ages 9-12 from 1:15-2:15 PM & Ages 13 & up from 2:30-4 PM.

PICKLEBALL

Courts are marked inside the Civic Center Domes as well as located at Division Street for Pickle Ball. Pickleball fees are $3.00 per player at the Civic Center, and there is no charge for use of the outdoor courts at Division Street.

Pickleball Open Play is hosted by the Friends of
OPEN PLAY is held every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Fees are $3.00 per person for indoor play, payable at the front desk at the Civic Center.

 

 

Snowshoes are available for rent during the winter months on a one-day basis at the Civic Center. Fees are $5.00 per pair, plus a $20 per pair deposit. (You pay $25 when you pick up the shoes, and $20 of that is returned to you when you return the shoes the same day.)

Snowshoes are available in a wide variety of sizes, ranging from youth through adult. The snowshoes are recreational shoes with an aluminum frame and buckle bindings, making them a light, accessible recreational opportunity for all ages and abilities.

Playgrounds are open to city resident, school-aged children. Join the fun all summer long at three city-sponsored playgrounds! All supervisors are trained to offer fun activities for children. The School District of Marinette will provide FREE breakfast and lunch at all sites throughout the summer. Playgrounds will be open for the season mid-June thorugh mid-August. Children are free to come and go as they wish, so parents should plan accordingly.

Playground hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Supervised playgrounds are located at these locations:

  • Fred Carney Park (230 Ogden Street)
  • The Duer Gym (402 Williams Street) 
  • Higley Field (2001 Carney Avenue)

There is NO CHARGE for participation in this program.

 

Swim Lessons are offered only during the summer months.

Lesson Descriptions:

Big and Little classes for parents and their children ages six months to three years focus on developing swimming readiness by teaching children and their parents to have fun in the water while practicing water safety.

Gearing Up Swimming Class for children ages 3 to 5 focuses on lesson preparedness independent from their parents, learning safe entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, underwater exploration and more.

Tier 1: helps students feel comfortable in the water & to enjoy the water safely. Open only to children ages 4 & up unless approved by the Aquatic Director. Students must be able to submerge their face, jump into the water safely, show comfort on their back, and “reach and pull” with floatation but without direct instructor contact in order to move on to Tier 2.

Tier 2: Gives students success with fundamental skills. New skills: float/recover, simultaneous & alternate arm/leg actions on front and back, basic self-help & rescue skills.

Tier 3: builds on the Level 2 skills by providing additional guided practice. New skills include coordination of front and back crawl, introduction of butterfly, fundamentals of treading water, and the rules of head-first entry.

Tier 5: provides further coordination and refinement of strokes. New skills include introduction of flip turns on front and back , increased distances, and refining performance of all strokes.

Tier 6: refines the strokes so students can swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Students can expect to work on endurance in all four competitive swimming strokes.

 

Tennis Lessons for ages four through adult are held on Thursdays - January 14 to February 18 under the instruction of MHS Varsity Tennis Coach Christine Alloy utilitzing the Quick Start Tennis program and other resources.

    Noon Hour Skate Admission to the ice rink from noon to 1:00 PM Monday through Friday is just $1.00 as well, and includes skate rentals. Time to dust off your skates!

    Beginner Ice Skating Lessons
    Beginner lessons for ages four and up, held on Mondays at 4:00 PM. Lessons are 30 minutes in length, with fifteen minutes of practice to follow, concluding at 4:45 PM. November 13-December 18. Residents $32.00, Non-residents $42.00
    Fees include the use of rental skates, if needed. Children may use either figure or hockey skates, but no double-bladed skates.
    Family Skating Sessions
    We get it—it’s hard to bring a young child to most open skate sessions due to the high attendance and skating levels of older skaters. Join us for two skating sessions just for parents and their younger skaters on Saturday, October 28 or Sat., November 25 from 2-4 PM. These sessions will be open ONLY to children under age 10 who are accompanied by an adult. Regular admission rates apply.

    Ice Rink Rentals
    The Civic Center Ice Rink is available for rent by school, community or church groups Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM, and also on Fridays from 5:00 to 6:30 PM . The rental fee is $100.00 per hour for city residents, and $120.00 for non-residents. The fee includes skate rent-als. Contact the Recreation Department at 715-732-5222 to make an ice rink rental reservation.

     


    Open Hockey is hosted Monday through Friday from 8:00-10:00 AM and is strictly no-check hockey in FULL gear. Additional Open Hockey will be hosted from December 26-28 at times TBD. Regular admission

  • Indoor Walking/Running +

     Walking Don’t let inclement weather ruin your walking or running routine! Walk or run indoors! Indoor walking is available at the Civic Center Monday- Friday from 7:45 AM to 9:00 AM, or whenever tennis players are not utilizing the courts. 10 1/2 laps around the dome equals one mile. There is no charge, as the dome is not heated for walking or running. 
  • Mini Marine Soccer Camp +

    Join Marinette High School Soccer volunteers, coaches and players for an off-season soccer camp to get your skills amped up for the spring and summer sea-sons! Camp topics will include fun fitness drills and dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, and goalkeeping.
    All proceeds from this camp above expenses will benefit the Marinette High School Varsity Soccer Teams. Athletes should wear shin guards and non-cleated athletic shoes for each camp date. Cleats will not be allowed indoors.
    Camp is scheduled at the Duer Gym, 402 Williams Street on Saturdays, January 6-27.
    Ages 4-8 from 12-1 PM, Ages 9-12 from 1:15-2:15 PM & Ages 13 & up from 2:30-4 PM.
    Fees are $25.00 per player.

  • Pickleball +

    PICKLEBALL

    Courts are marked inside the Civic Center Domes as well as located at Division Street for Pickle Ball. Pickleball fees are $3.00 per player at the Civic Center, and there is no charge for use of the outdoor courts at Division Street.

    Official rules for Pickle Ball can be found at www.pickleball.com/Rules.aspx. Paddles are available for use at the Civic Center courts—ask at the front desk.

    OPEN PLAY is held every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Fees are $3.00 per person for indoor play, payable at the front desk at the Civic Center.

     

  • Snowshoe Rentals +

     

    Snowshoes are available for rent during the winter months on a one-day basis at the Civic Center. Fees are $5.00 per pair, plus a $20 per pair deposit. (You pay $25 when you pick up the shoes, and $20 of that is returned to you when you return the shoes the same day.)

    Snowshoes are available in a wide variety of sizes, ranging from youth through adult. The snowshoes are recreational shoes with an aluminum frame and buckle bindings, making them a light, accessible recreational opportunity for all ages and abilities.

  • Supervised Playgrounds +

    Playgrounds are open to city resident, school-aged children. Join the fun all summer long at three city-sponsored playgrounds! All supervisors are trained to offer fun activities for children. The School District of Marinette will provide FREE breakfast and lunch at all sites throughout the summer. Playgrounds will be open for the season mid-June thorugh mid-August. Children are free to come and go as they wish, so parents should plan accordingly.

    Playground hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Supervised playgrounds are located at these locations:

    • Fred Carney Park (230 Ogden Street)
    • The Duer Gym (402 Williams Street) 
    • Higley Field (2001 Carney Avenue)

    There is NO CHARGE for participation in this program.

     

  • Swim Lessons +

    Swim Lessons are offered only during the summer months.

    Lesson Descriptions:

    Big and Little classes for parents and their children ages six months to three years focus on developing swimming readiness by teaching children and their parents to have fun in the water while practicing water safety.

    Gearing Up Swimming Class for children ages 3 to 5 focuses on lesson preparedness independent from their parents, learning safe entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, underwater exploration and more.

    Tier 1: helps students feel comfortable in the water & to enjoy the water safely. Open only to children ages 4 & up unless approved by the Aquatic Director. Students must be able to submerge their face, jump into the water safely, show comfort on their back, and “reach and pull” with floatation but without direct instructor contact in order to move on to Tier 2.

    Tier 2: Gives students success with fundamental skills. New skills: float/recover, simultaneous & alternate arm/leg actions on front and back, basic self-help & rescue skills.

    Tier 3: builds on the Level 2 skills by providing additional guided practice. New skills include coordination of front and back crawl, introduction of butterfly, fundamentals of treading water, and the rules of head-first entry.

    Tier 5: provides further coordination and refinement of strokes. New skills include introduction of flip turns on front and back , increased distances, and refining performance of all strokes.

    Tier 6: refines the strokes so students can swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Students can expect to work on endurance in all four competitive swimming strokes.

     

  • Tennis Lessons +

    Tennis Lessons for ages four through adult are held on Thursdays - January 14 to February 18 under the instruction of MHS Varsity Tennis Coach Christine Alloy utilitzing the Quick Start Tennis program and other resources.

    • “Little Tennis”, ages 4-7 4:15-5:00 PM
    • Players Ages 8-12 5:00-6:00 PM
    • Players Ages 13 through adult 6:00-7:00 PM

    Fees are $25.00 for city residents, Non-residents pay $40.00. Pre-registration is required at the Civic Center. Sorry, we are unable to accept phone registrations.

    Court Usage
    Courts are available year-round at the Civic Center Domes. The court rate is $28.00 per hour, per court for adults, and $16.00 per hour , per court for students.
